You Probably Don't Know...

Monday, June 22, 2015

It's been a little rough around here, and I haven't been very inspired. I've been trying to figure out what I want to write about, what brings people here, and if those things are the same. What I do know is that I will never stop being weird, honest, quirky, me. So, here are some things you probably don't know about me...

- I've never done any drugs, unless you could alcohol. (And I've only been drunk a handful of times.) I am honestly afraid of what being high would be like, and I hate being out of control, so I won't do it.

- I always said that I would get a tattoo when I was accepted into medical school. I didn't do it in 2008, but I saw this the other day, and now I'm strongly considering it. But I'm mostly still afraid.

- I seriously dread the day that I lose my cat, Gershwin. I know that no one wants to think about their pet leaving them, but I don't know what I'm going to do when he eventually dies. He's 14, and I tell him every day that he's not allowed to leave me yet.

- I hate lakes. They're squishy and I don't like swimming in them. Also, brain-eating amoeba.

- I pop pimples. I know it's terrible, but I can't help myself. It's just so satisfying.

- I've only been to Disney World twice, once when I was 9 (with my dad), and once when I was 17 (with the high school marching band, #bandgeek). I have literally zero desire to return, but I'll probably take our kids someday.

- It makes me really, viscerally, angry when people misuse the word "literally". As in, I literally want to scream when it happens.

- I would love to learn how to hand-letter, but I have zero artistic talent.

- I feel like there isn't enough wall-space in our house to hang all of the things I want to hang.

- I hate the heat. And humidity. And also extreme cold. I don't know where that means I'm supposed to live.

- I never want to own a dog, but I love other people's dogs.

- I have to crack my hips before I fall asleep.

- I can't stand when people are bad spellers. It makes my skin crawl.

- If I had to cut gluten or dairy out of my diet, I would cry real tears. Carbs and cheese are my favorite.

- I didn't really drink coffee until I started working at CHOP, where I drank it every day. I don't make it at home unless people are over. I don't need it in the morning to wake up; I just like the ritual of it, I think.

- I can play 6 musical instruments (piano, viola, clarinet, French horn, mellophone, and harp), but I can't seem to handle the guitar at all.

- I thought I hated avocados until about 2 years ago, when I discovered the error of my ways and fell in love with them. Shortly after that, I found out (the hard way) that I am allergic to them.

- Horses scare me. They're too big.

- I wish life had more opportunities for people to get really dressed up.

- Rainy nights are my favorite nights.

  1. Ok, responses:
    - I had a joint in Amsterdam where it was legal (because we know I fear getting in trouble pretty much more than anything), and I didn't see the appeal.
    - Tattoo - we should chat.
    - Disney - I will take your children. You can relax at the hotel and get a massage.
    - Pimples - ugh, I know.
    - Dress up - We should have been born socialites. Or been movie stars so we could go to movie premieres.
    - It's freaking hot here right now.

  2. Don't be scared of tattoos! Well... I mean maybe the permanent nature but that's not really scary. I look at them like a scrapbook on skin really. Also, you have 3 cats and I'm assuming you have been scratched by any one of them so you're pretty much set for the "pain" bit. The healing part feels a bit more like sun burn and as we're both on Team Pale I can assume you've felt that before too! :D All set! No Worries! :)

Let me know if you have questions/need a recommendation on where to go. I've got peeps.
