Blogtember: Extended Vacation

Friday, September 6, 2013

Ok, still playing catch-up with Blogtember here, so let's get to it.

Day 2: If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world, what would you do? (bonus points for fun photos from Pinterest, but don't forget to cite the source!)

Short answer: SLEEP.

Slightly longer answer: Sleep in a tropical locale.

This view would be fine.

Actual answer of substance: If my boss walked into my office today and said, "Take three months off, we'll see you in December," I don't know how I would react. I am really bad at "doing nothing". In fact, I was really worried that on our honeymoon, I wouldn't know what to do with myself because I wouldn't have any work that needed to be done. To be fair, we didn't do "nothing" on a single day we were in California; we were either driving somewhere, seeing something, or planning something. It wasn't actually a super relaxing vacation because we had so much going on, but it was really fun, nonetheless.

Anyway, what would I do with three months off? I'm torn. Part of me would want to simply spend time at home, resting, relaxing, spending time with my friends and family. I could watch a LOT of Netflix in three months, try a lot of new recipes, and get a lot of knitting and reading done.

But that seems like a waste of three months, when I could travel the world! Go back to Israel, head to Australia, spend some time in Hawaii... of course, all of these require funds that I simply do not have, but since we seem to be firmly entrenched in fantasy land here, what with the three months off, I'm just going to go with it.

I have a list of books that I want to read that's about a mile long (no seriously, go check out my Goodreads), projects I want to knit (I'm on Ravelry, if you want to be my friend!), things I want to bake, and TV shows that I want to watch on Netflix. I want to see my friends that I never get to see because they live all over the place. I want to relax and spend time with my husband.

Bottom line: I think, with three months off, I would like to plan some vacations, but intersperse that heavily with LOTS of downtime.

What would you do with three months off?

Check out what other people would do with their extended vacation at the link-up, and check back later for hopefully another catch-up post!
